Job summary

Jabil in Richardson, TX is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to design, develop, implement and optimize automated manufacturing systems, focusing on production efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness.

You will lead projects with cross-functional teams, program PLCs/HMI/SCADA, integrate robotics, vision systems, and document procedures, while mentoring junior staff and staying current with industry best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field; Master's preferred.
Minimum 5 years in industrial/manufacturing automation including design, programming, and implementation.

Responsibilities

Assist Lead Automation Engineer across the project lifecycle from concept to implementation.
Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and robotics (Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).
Design and integrate vision systems, motion control systems, and other automation tech.
Collaborate with manufacturing, process engineering, and quality to define automation requirements.
Conduct root cause analysis of automation failures and implement corrective actions.
Maintain documentation for automation systems and mentor junior staff.
