Job summary

Matrix Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support clients in Louisville, KY, with a remote-first arrangement through the Cincinnati, OH office.

This role requires seasoned control systems development experience and the ability to lead software development for DCS/PLC-based systems. You will work with external clients and internal engineering teams, developing HMI graphics, DCS/PLC code, and functional specifications, while mentoring junior engineers and driving project

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Minimum six years of controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting and start-up experience.
• Systems Integrator experience is a plus.
• EPC project experience preferred.
• Experience with distillery operations, process manufacturing, or industrial automation within the spirits sector is a strong asset.
• FE or PE certification preferred.
• Preference for Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, and Aveva experience.
• Knowledge of continuous batching processes and controls is a plus.
• Experience with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Knowledge in Process Control Network Architecture design.
• Varied industrial background; industries include food & beverage, chemical, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
• Ability to travel approximately 15-25%, locally and overnight.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to access required client work sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage software development for DCS/PLC based control systems, including operator graphics and interfaces.
• Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines and external clients to gather data and specifications.
• Develop functional specifications, test plans, and onsite commissioning.
• Provide leadership to less experienced engineers and mentor team members.
• Follow Matrix Standards and Project Methodology; contribute to process improvements.
• Ensure safety practices and compliance with site policies.
