Novelis Terre Haute, Indiana, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to optimize plant controls and drive improvements across rolling processes. You will lead troubleshooting, evaluate new technologies, and maintain automation software and drawings to support reliable operation.

The role requires deep experience with Level 2 automation and cross-functional collaboration with operators, electricians, and reliability teams.

Formación

Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, automation engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Five to ten years of electrical, controls, or automation engineering experience in a related manufacturing environment.
Experience troubleshooting equipment and process issues and root-cause analysis for rolling process control systems.
Knowledge of rolling theory and process fundamentals, including automatic flatness control, automatic gauge control, measurement systems, and control actuators.
Experience with Level 2 automation systems and software such as Visual Basic, C, LabVIEW, LogicCAD, I/O Works, OpenVMS, or Windows.
Working knowledge of automation platforms such as AutoMax, Allen-Bradley, Reliance, or Siemens.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, including the ability to make minor drawing updates.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate across levels of the organization.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead technical initiatives and build productive relationships across functions.

Responsabilidades

Identify opportunities to improve equipment and process safety while supporting compliance with requirements.
Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions to improve quality, reliability, efficiency, and cost.
Develop methods to optimize manufacturing processes and equipment performance.
Provide advanced troubleshooting for PLCs, drives, mill automation, motors, and other control equipment.
Maintain accurate equipment drawings, documentation, and system listings.
Maintain automation software, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
Use internal and external resources to strengthen technical knowledge and performance.
Support Process Teams in prioritizing improvement activities aligned with plans.
Provide technical leadership for improvement initiatives and capital projects.
Collaborate with Reliability to support the Facility Reliability Master Plan.
