Job summary

Raymond Storage Concepts is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to lead design of advanced material handling systems, from concept through delivery. You will work with Sales, Engineering, customers, and suppliers to create high-performing automation solutions that meet throughput and space requirements.

You will mentor junior engineers, review proposals, and guide technical decisions while coordinating with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years in the material handling industry.
• 5+ years creating material handling drawings with AutoCAD or equivalent.
• 15+ years in automated sortation technologies.
• 5+ years with pallet-handling equipment (conveyors, transfers, turntables, lifts).
• 5+ years developing complex technical proposals and cost estimates.
• Strong technical writing for proposals, scopes, and operation descriptions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of ANSI/OSHA/RIA/CEMA/ISO safety standards.
• Understanding of PLCs, VFDs, WCS/WMS, HMIs, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus.
• Ability to read single-line diagrams and panel layouts.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for complex material handling systems (conveyor, sortation, AS/RS, robotics).
• Evaluate requirements and select technologies based on throughput and objectives.
• Develop detailed mechanical drawings for proposals and projects.
• Create technical proposals with system concepts and cost estimates.
• Translate engineering concepts into clear customer materials and docs.
• Develop Operations Descriptions and system documentation.
• Prepare customer presentations communicating concepts and specs.
• BOMs and spare-parts lists; coordinate equipment orders.
• Maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships for pricing and delivery.
• Lead technical reviews to ensure quality and feasibility.
• Mentor team members and lead internal technical training.
• Support projects from concept through execution and handoff.
