Job summary

Solid Power is seeking a Senior Controls/Automation Engineer II to design, commission, startup, and optimize advanced manufacturing systems for next-generation solid-state electrolytes. You will lead PLC, HMI/SCADA development, networking, instrumentation, safety systems, and documentation across equipment startups and production ramps.

The ideal candidate has deep hands-on Allen-Bradley experience, strong automation knowledge, and the ability to work in the field with technicians, review

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical/mechanical/automation or related field.
• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC platforms and Rockwell software.
• Experience in PLC logic development, wiring diagrams, and commissioning.
• HMI/SCADA design, alarms, and data visualization experience.
• Strong industrial networking knowledge (Ethernet/IP, PLC-to-PLC, plant systems).
• Experience FAT/SAT, commissioning, startup, and ramp activities.
• Ability to read schematics, P&IDs, I/O lists and control narratives.
• Safety awareness in electrical/machine safety and hazardous locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of electrical control systems.
• Develop and modify PLC programs for manufacturing equipment and utilities.
• Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, startup and ramp activities.
• Review electrical schematics, I/O lists, and control narratives.
• Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA apps with alarms and status views.
• Troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, maintenance, IT, EHS, quality, and vendors.
• Integrate equipment controls with plant networks and data systems.
• Maintain standards for code structure, backups, and revision control.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; build internal controls capability.
