Job summary
AstraZeneca in Rockville, MD seeks a Senior Automation Engineer – Cell Therapy to lead the automation and OT strategy for a groundbreaking robotic manufacturing cluster. You will partner with Manufacturing, Quality, IT and external suppliers to enable reliable, scalable cell therapy operations.
This role requires 5+ years in process automation within GMP settings, robotics integration, and strong system lifecycle expertise.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience implementing and sustaining process automation or OT systems in manufacturing or similar environments.
- Hands-on experience integrating robotic systems with third‑party manufacturing equipment and applying AI to process execution or real-time control.
- GMP-regulated environment experience across ideation, design, implementation, validation, and ongoing support.
Responsibilities
- Lead Automation and OT strategy for the site’s robotic manufacturing cluster; act as primary technical authority.
- Own and administer Automation/OT platforms, including Environmental monitoring, Process Orchestration Layer, robotics cluster, and integrated equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex automation challenges, maintain secure, GMP-validated systems, and guide lifecycle decisions from concept to replacement.
