Job summary

Johnson & Johnson seeks an Automation Engineer, Drug Product - Aseptic Filling, to own automation and controls for the aseptic filling area. You will partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, CSV, OT, MES, Digital teams, and suppliers to ensure compliant, reliable automation solutions.

Travel domestically and internationally as required for FAT/SAT, commissioning, and knowledge transfer, supporting the site’s manufacturing systems and data interfaces across global operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Automation Engineer for Drug Product aseptic filling and provide direct technical ownership of the automation/controls scope under the DP Manufacturing Lead.
• Support end-to-end automation delivery from concept through controls development, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, start-up, handover, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support.
• Provide technical oversight for automation solutions supporting aseptic filling/finish operations and associated automated DP equipment, including isolator/barrier technologies, machine controls, batch control, SCADA/HMI, networks, robotics, and site interfaces.
• Review OEM/system-integrator automation designs, software/config, specifications, control narratives, architectures, interfaces, alarms/interlocks, and test docs for alignment with site/global standards.
• Develop, implement, review, and troubleshoot PLC/DCS/HMI/batch and machine-control changes; ensure maintainable, standardized, and properly controlled software/config.
• Plan, support, and execute FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities; lead issue resolution and close automation punch-lists.
• Travel domestically and internationally for FAT, training, knowledge transfer, and automation readiness with suppliers and affiliates.
• Support interfaces to MES, historian, recipe/data platforms, and other site systems for reliable data flow and traceability.
• Author, review, and execute automation validation/qualification documentation.
