Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead development of automation strategies for vehicle Access Control systems and to drive continuous improvement across Digital Key, NFC, BLE, and Passive Entry validation.

You will own automation infrastructure, test benches, and reporting while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with Systems, Software, Mobile App, DevOps, and supplier teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or related technical field is required.
  • Master's degree or higher education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks for Access Control features including Digital Key, NFC, BLE, OTA, Diagnostics, and Passive Entry.
  • Define automation strategy, roadmap, and best practices to improve validation scalability and efficiency.
  • Develop robust automated regression test suites using Python, CAPL, and CANoe.
  • Own and maintain automation infrastructure, HIL setups, test benches, vehicle test environments, and connected test systems.
  • Create automated test reporting solutions, dashboards, validation metrics, and release readiness reports.
  • Drive test planning activities including automation requirements, validation strategies, test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations across automation frameworks, test environments, and vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mobile App, DevOps, and Supplier teams to improve automation coverage and product quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish automation standards across the validation organization.

Position Overview

Senior Automation Engineer – Access Controls Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Automation Engineer to lead the development and execution of automation strategies for next-generation vehicle Access Control systems. This role will be responsible for architecting scalable automation frameworks, maintaining validation infrastructure, and driving automation coverage for Digital Key, NFC, BLE, Key Fob, Passive Entry, Diagnostics, and OTA features. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical lead for validation automation, enabling efficient regression testing, automated reporting, and continuous quality monitoring across vehicle, mobile, cloud, and embedded platforms. This individual will work closely with validation, systems, software, and supplier teams to improve product quality, reduce manual testing effort, and accelerate release readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks for Access Control features including Digital Key, NFC, BLE, OTA, Diagnostics, and Passive Entry.

  • Develop robust automated regression test suites using Python, CAPL, and CANoe .

Technical Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or related technical field is required.
  • Master's degree or higher education is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Automotive Test Automation, Validation Engineering, or Development Verification.
  • Expert-level programming skills in Python and strong experience with CAPL development.
  • Extensive experience with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, and automotive test automation environments .
  • Strong understanding of automotive validation methodologies, test planning, and release processes.
  • Experience developing automated test frameworks, reporting systems, and CI/CD integration workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of CAN / CAN-FD, UDS (ISO 14229), NFC, BLE, Automotive Ethernet Proven experience in debugging complex vehicle, mobile, and embedded system interactions.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience automating Digital Key validation across Apple, Google, and Samsung ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience with HIL systems, fleet validation, and large-scale regression automation.
  • Experience building automated quality dashboards and analytics solutions.
  • Familiarity with CCC Digital Key standards and certification testing.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE, V-Model, and automotive software quality processes.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
