Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of automated systems across our operations. This role will play a key part in improving efficiency, reliability, and safety through advanced automation and controls solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical leader who can collaborate cross‑functionally and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, program, and commission industrial automation and control systems
  • Lead automation projects from concept through implementation and startup
  • Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing automated systems to improve performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to define automation requirements
  • Ensure systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and internal best practices
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and new technology adoption

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
  • Strong experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks
  • Proficiency in at least one major PLC platform (e.g., Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider)
  • Experience with system integration, commissioning, and field troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control panels
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team‑oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, or motion control
  • Familiarity with safety systems and functional safety standards
  • Project leadership or project management experience
