Job summary
Progressive Machine & Design in Victor, NY is seeking a senior Controls Engineer III to design, program, debug, and install turnkey automation equipment. You will translate mechanical concepts into robust electrical designs and work closely with build teams from concept through commission.
You will lead complex projects, review requirements, ensure safety standards, and develop control hardware and HMI software for diverse applications.
Qualifications
- BS in EE, EET, Mechatronics, related engineering field; or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- 10+ years experience with hardware design.
- 4+ of the listed hardware design skills: AutoCad Electrical, standards, power calculations, enclosure heat calculations, SCCR, fluid power, SISTEMA.
- 3+ of the listed programming skills: PLC, HMI, robot programming, vision systems, industrial protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design controls hardware, power and safety schematics, and enclosure layouts.
- Program, debug, and commission control hardware and software on turnkey systems.
- Translate mechanical concepts into electrical design elements and create device drivers.
- Review requirements, participate in design reviews, and support site acceptance testing.
- Provide leadership on complex projects and assist junior engineers as needed.
