Job summary

Design Group in Philadelphia seeks a Senior Controls Engineer with extensive experience in automation, PLC/SCADA programming, and Rockwell/Ignition platforms. You will lead control-system integration projects for high-speed manufacturing environments, coordinating with clients and suppliers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

The role requires strong documentation and travel on project sites as needed.

Qualifications

Experience with control systems and high-intensity environments.
Minimum 8 years as a controls engineer in automated processes/industrial manufacturing.
Experience in engineering/consulting environments is preferred but not required.
Experience designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA) and Ignition preferred.
Solid understanding of UL508A panel design.
Solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C).
Engineering documentation (P&IDs, diagrams) experience.
Field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration.
Familiarity with machine safety, power distribution, and panel design.
Strong written and verbal technical communication; willingness to travel.
Bachelor’s in electrical/mechanical engineering or similar field.

Responsibilities

Develop automation solutions and participate in various phases of automation projects including creating design specifications, software configuration and testing, and the commissioning and start-up of a variety of high speed and other automated manufacturing processes
Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
Diagnose automation problems
Interface with teams, clients and vendors
Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) required.
HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition programming)
Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders
Manage engineering projects
Manage project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
Manage site construction and installation
Manage site start-up support of integrated control systems
Validate and commission facility systems following established execution protocols, and ensure the successful turnover of the system to the customer
