Job summary

Energy Talent Search is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer in Dallas, TX (must live in Texas) for a hands-on leadership role. You will lead automation projects from concept through startup and commissioning, design, program, test, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems, and coordinate with clients and suppliers.

You will work with AB/Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Emerson, ABB, Honeywell, GE, and Yokogawa platforms; configure Ignition, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, WinCC,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 7+ years in automation, controls or industrial systems engineering.
• US citizens or Green Card holders; residency in the United States.
• PE or EIT certification is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects through design, FAT, SAT, startup and commissioning.
• Design, program, test and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems.
• Work with multiple platforms from major vendors and suppliers.
• Configure Ignition, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, WinCC, AVEVA, iFIX.
• Develop control narratives, specs, I/O lists and failure modes.
• Support instrumentation, panels, motion, servo and VFDs.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus and OPC networks.
• Define scope, schedules, requirements and deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage multiple projects.

The role

Energy Talent Search is partnering with a growing engineering and technology company to recruit a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer.

This hands-on leadership role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working with customers, and owning projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects through design, programming, FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning.
• Design, program, test, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems.
• Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Emerson, ABB, Honeywell, GE, and Yokogawa platforms.
• Configure Ignition, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, WinCC, AVEVA, and iFIX applications.
• Develop control narratives, functional specifications, I/O lists, and cause-and-effect matrices.
• Support instrumentation, panel design, electrical controls, Motion Control, Servo Systems, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Troubleshoot and optimize Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, and OPC networks.
• Define customer scope, schedules, requirements, and deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage multiple projects.

The person

You will need a bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field and at least seven years of automation, controls, or industrial systems engineering experience.

Relevant industry experience may include Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, Robotics, Industrial Technology, Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemical Processing, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Utilities, Mining, Metals, Water/Wastewater, Packaging, Material Handling, Data Centers, Industrial AI, Smart Manufacturing, and Digital Twins.

PE or EIT certification is helpful but not required. Applicants must be US citizens or Green Card holders and must currently live in the United States.
