Job summary

Trinity TankCar, Inc in Longview, TX is seeking a Senior Auto Welder to lay out, position, align and fit metal parts for welding, using blueprints and sketches. You will tack-weld, apply welding processes with manual or semi-automatic equipment, and inspect work for conformance.

Adhere to safety rules, maintain records, and may participate in safety initiatives. This role requires effective teamwork and attention to detail in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as fitter/welder with emphasis on layout and fit-up.
• Able to read layouts, blueprints and sketches for welding.
• List at least last 2 employers in the application.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, aligns and fits together metal parts for welding.
• Tack-welds pieces together.
• Apply welding processes to join, surface and repair parts using manual/semi-automatic equipment.
• May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• Position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Follow safety rules and maintain required records.
• May participate in safety committees or initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll do:

Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts of metal according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics and sketches in preparation for welding.

Tack-welds pieces together.

Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints schematics and sketches using manual and/or semi-automatic welding equipment.

May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.

May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.

May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.

Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records.

Follows all safety rules and practices.

May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Fits and tack welds subassemblies or to jacket

Accurately measures within specified toleranc
