Job summary

Capital One seeks a Principal Risk Associate in the Financial Services Auto Risk Office. You will provide professional risk judgment and develop innovative solutions to mitigate risks while supporting business partners.

You will work with senior leaders, technology, compliance, legal and other risk management teams to drive risk-aware decision making. The role emphasizes collaboration, strategic influence, and delivering exceptional customer experience through effective risk management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in risk or process management.
• At least 3 years working with internal business customers.
• Bachelor's Degree or military experience preferred.
• 3+ years of experience presenting to senior leadership.
• 5+ years of experience in risk or process management (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of business strategies, products, services and risk profile.
• Identify and assess impact of changing regulatory environment on objectives and risk appetite.
• Analyze data to identify risks and trends and provide insights for decision-making.
• Provide guidance to business partners on implementing risk policies and programs.
• Drive collaboration between risk, compliance, legal and other support functions.
• Escalate risk management gaps to executive management and the Board when appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to improve risk management practices and reduce waste.
• Coordinate containment and remediation of process breakdowns with compliance and business teams.
• Analyze trends, determine root causes, and propose solutions.
