Job summary

Moss & Yantis CPA PA is seeking a Senior Auditor to lead audit engagements with a focus on Employee Benefit Plan and Not-for-Profit audits. You will interact directly with clients, supervise staff, and own engagements from planning through completion in the Charleston area.

The role emphasizes applying GAAP, ERISA, DOL, and Form 5500 standards, while developing specialized expertise and delivering high-quality audit work for a growing firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure.
• 2+ years of public accounting audit experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and auditing standards.
• Analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform audit engagements in accordance with professional standards and firm policies.
• Lead Employee Benefit Plan audits, including 401(k), 403(b), and other defined contribution plans.
• Perform audits of Not-for-Profit organizations and assist with financial statement preparation and reporting.
• Develop audit programs, perform substantive and control testing, and document audit procedures.
• Identify and communicate accounting, internal control, and compliance issues to managers and clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements, workpapers, and required audit documentation.
• Supervise, train, and provide feedback to staff auditors.
• Manage engagement timelines and budgets while maintaining high-quality work.
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and discuss audit findings.
• Research and apply relevant accounting and auditing standards, including AICPA, FASB, ERISA, and DOL requirements applicable to Employee Benefit Plan audits.
• Assist with engagement planning, risk assessment, and the resolution of complex accounting and auditing matters.
• Participate in firm initiatives designed to improve audit quality, efficiency, and client service.
