Job Summary

With moderate supervision and support of AMAS management, performs audits, advisory service projects, and investigations covering financial, operational, and compliance areas across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. Performs engagements in accordance with the Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Assesses organizational and operational risks; designs and executes work programs; prepares work papers; maintains communication with operating staff and management; develops recommendations; drafts reports to management; performs post-engagement work as necessary to ensure that corrective actions are implemented. Promotes concepts of internal control to assist University personnel in the discharge of their duties.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated progress toward professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), etc.
  • Familiarity and experience with federal regulation and state laws relevant to healthcare settings and healthcare auditing.
  • Familiarity with electronic healthcare records, clinic/medical operations.
  • Medical coding knowledge or experience.
  • Experience interpreting and applying UC Davis policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of information systems in use at UC Davis such as Oracle Cloud Financial System (Aggie Enterprise),
  • Banner Student Information System, Epic Electronic Medical Record, Infor Lawson.
  • Higher Education/Academic Medical Center audit experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a remote work environment

The mission of Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS) is to assess and monitor the university community in the discharge of its oversight, management, and operating responsibilities in relation to governance processes, the systems of internal control, and compliance with laws, regulations and University policies including those related to ethical conduct by providing relevant, timely, independent, and objective assurance, advisory and investigative services using a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate risk and improve effectiveness. AMAS is responsible for performing financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits and investigations of the main Davis campus, and the Health System, which includes the UC Davis (UCD) Medical Center, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.

Work Environment
  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-g., e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.
  • AMAS is a remote office, and most staff work from home or another secure location. A University-owned laptop and monitors are provided. Staff may work outside the state of California as long as they are able to perform their duties on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Shared workstations in Davis are available to staff who prefer to work in-office regularly or on occasion.
  • AMAS staff work flexible schedules. Staff are generally expected to be accessible during the core business hours of 9am to 4pm PST, Monday through Friday. Modified schedules are approved for fully-performing staff who wish to start the day earlier, end the day later, and/or take additional or extended breaks midday. Staff have the option to work 9/80 or 4x10 flex schedules.
  • Staff must be able to travel to Sacramento, Davis, or other locations on occasion to perform engagements or attend training sessions.
