Hilltop Holdings is currently seeking a Senior Auditor. The Senior Auditor will organize, plan, and conduct periodic reviews of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and other corporate activities, primarily those relating to Hilltop Holdings. In addition, prepare annual risk assessments, assess internal controls, operations, and administrative functions for efficiency and effectiveness. Review applicable federal regulations and internal policies and procedures (P&P) to ensure compliance with all aspects of P&P in assigned audit areas.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits of assigned areas verifying proper functioning of internal controls, compliance with policies and regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Prepare reports on audit findings, highlighting irregularities or exceptions, and present them to the Audit Manager or Director. Write audit reports on the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls and compliance efforts.
  • Obtain and analyze audit evidence to form an objective, independent opinion on the control and compliance systems.
  • Assist in appraising the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors or regulators as needed.
  • Maintain professional certifications (see qualifications below).
  • Ensure controls and compliance in specialized environments like IT, data processing, trust, etc.
  • Review compliance with major regulatory requirements beyond those handled by the Compliance Officer.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% (possibly 20%).
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Ability to report to the Dallas office at Republic Center, 325 N. St. Paul Street, without relocation assistance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in public accounting or internal audit; IT audit or financial services experience a plus.
  • Desired certifications include CPA, CIA, CFSA, or equivalent.
  • Supporting Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to uphold certifications.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and PC skills, including familiarity with risk management software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 10%.
