Job summary

The Encompass Group is partnering with a well established public accounting and advisory firm to offer a CPA with strong audit background an opportunity to lead engagements and mentor staff in Des Moines, Iowa. You will build client relationships and gain exposure to diverse industries.

You will supervise teams, coordinate multiple audits, and drive quality and growth for the firm. A collaborative environment with partner involvement supports your professional development and long-term career

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of recent public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience leading client engagements and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through completion.
  • Manage audits for nonprofits, employee benefit plans, and commercial clients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, partners, and internal audit teams.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff while reviewing workpapers and financial reports.
  • Coordinate multiple client engagements, timelines, staffing, and workflow.
  • Ensure financial statements and related reports comply with standards.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through proactive communication and advisory support.
  • Support business development and firm growth.

What You'll Do
  • Lead audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through completion
  • Manage audits for nonprofits, employee benefit plans, and a variety of commercial clients
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, partners, and internal audit teams
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff while reviewing workpapers and financial reports
  • Coordinate multiple client engagements, project timelines, staffing, and workflow
  • Ensure financial statements and related reports comply with professional and firm standards
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and trusted advisory support
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to the continued growth of the firm
What We're Looking For
  • Active CPA license required
  • 5+ years of recent public accounting audit experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and audit methodology
  • Experience leading client engagements and supervising staff
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Willingness to travel locally to client sites, with occasional overnight travel as needed
