Job summary

LHH is hiring a Senior Audit Associate for a private company in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This hybrid role combines public accounting audit expertise with internal property accounting responsibilities, focusing on real estate portfolios and monthly closes.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in public accounting audit or 4+ years in private accounting, with GAAP proficiency and experience coordinating with outsourced teams. Hybrid work includes three onsite days per week in Rancho Cucamonga.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years public accounting with an audit focus OR 4+ years private accounting.
• Experience with private companies and/or real estate clients preferred.
• Knowledge of property accounting and real estate financial reporting is desirable.
• Strong GAAP knowledge, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of properties (approx. 17–20).
• Review statements and schedules prepared by outsourced teams for accuracy.
• Coordinate monthly close and meet deadlines.
• Analyze statements, account activity, and variances to identify discrepancies and corrections.
• Collaborate with Property Managers on cash collections, banking activity, and property-level issues.
• Review accounts payable activity, vendor invoices, coding, and approvals.
• Review intercompany charges and payments for proper recording.
• Support quarterly reviews, audits, and tax/budget/reporting needs.
• Assist with regulatory filings and unclaimed property requirements.
• Coordinate reserve funding and distributions with documentation.
• Work with offshore teams to review deliverables and improve processes.
• Assist with training and onboarding accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, controls, and reporting.
• Attend occasional company meetings and team events, including limited overnight travel.
