Job summary

NRG Energy seeks a Sr Audio Intelligence Engineer to craft conversational and audio AI for smart homes across mobile, panel, and camera platforms. You will develop real-time speech and multimodal interaction systems, focusing on latency, privacy, grounding, and user experience.

You will design, deploy, and monitor AI services at scale, integrating with agentic tools and memory. A strong Python background and production ML experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML or related field with 5+ years in software/ML roles.
• Master's degree in CS/SE/AI with 2+ years in software/ML roles.
• Experience with speech-to-text, text-to-speech or AI audio systems.
• Strong Python engineering skills.
• Experience integrating LLMs or multimodal models in production.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, latency optimization, and cloud AI services.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, production monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build conversational and audio AI experiences across mobile, panel, camera, and future agents.
• Optimize latency, privacy, grounding, and user experience in real-time interactions.
• Build evaluation frameworks for conversational quality and task completion.
• Integrate audio intelligence with agentic tools, memory, personalization, and context.
• Evaluate and benchmark emerging speech, audio, and multimodal AI tech.
• Deploy and monitor production audio and conversational AI services at scale.
