Florida Department of Health is seeking dedicated attorneys to join the Prosecution Services Unit, the legal enforcement arm of the Division of Medical Quality Assurance. Senior Attorney will litigate cases before licensure boards and manage the lifecycle of administrative proceedings while benefiting from a supportive environment and strong public-service mission.

Qualifications include a law degree and Florida Bar admission within 12 months, plus 2+ years of Florida legal practice.

Formación

• Law degree (L.L.B. or J.D.) and five years of professional experience in the practice of law.
• Must be a member of the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment to this position.
• Commitment to excellence, integrity, and public service.
• 2+ years of active legal practice in Florida- Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsabilidades

• Initiation of Administrative Proceedings: Independently review case files, develop legal opinions, and prepare probable cause recommendations, including administrative complaints and closing orders.
• Board Presentations: Present cases before healthcare licensure boards across the State of Florida for final disciplinary action.
• Litigation: Represent the Department before the Division of Administrative Hearings, managing all aspects of litigation from trial preparation to post-hearing pleadings.
• Case Management: Oversee an inventory of cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution in compliance with statutory requirements.
• Collaboration: Respond to public records requests, inquiries from counsel, Respondents, members of the public and other agencies regarding ongoing cases.
• Free Continuing Legal Education: Opportunity for up to 24 hours yearly of free CLE credit regarding all aspects of administrative litigation and general practice.
