Job summary

OFFICE OF PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL GUARDIANS seeks a Senior Attorney to provide legal representation to the Department and oversee all matters related to professional guardians under Chapter 744. This on-site role reports to the Statewide Public Guardianship Program Director and engages in enforcement, prosecution, and legal advisory work.

Requirements include a JD, active Florida Bar membership, and a minimum of two years’ legal experience.

Qualifications

• Requires JD and admission to the Florida Bar.
• Minimum of 2 years’ legal experience in practice of law.
• Knowledge of Administrative Procedures Act (Ch. 120, Florida Statutes).

Responsibilities

• Regulation and enforcement of Chapter 744 for Professional Guardians.
• Prosecution of Professional Guardians and legal advice to the Department and OPPG.
• Drafts and reviews legislation, rules, contracts and other legal instruments.
• Handles public records requests and background screening issues.
• Provides counsel to the Executive Director and Staff on complex legal matters.
