PG&E is seeking a Senior Welding/Mechanical Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert in welding, mechanical design, fabrication and inspections. The role supports PG&E welding programs, day-to-day weld repair, and Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant welding work.
You will develop and implement new welding techniques, prepare procedures, provide consulting to internal and external clients, and coordinate projects across power generation and gas/Electric operations.
The Applied Technology Services (ATS) Engineering staff provides engineering, testing and analysis services and expertise across multiple disciplines to various company organizations to identify, diagnose and solve technical problems. The staff provides consultation and advice to clients to proactively avoid future problems by specifying equipment, materials and methods that are best practices in the industry. Services include inspections, failure analysis, performance assessments, and evaluations on a wide variety of systems and components
The Welding Services Unit is one of the groups within ATS and they provide welding, inspection, materials and mechanical design/analysis expertise. They also provide project consultation, fabrication, inspection oversight, weld program management, and the development of specialty weld repairs and modifications. In addition, the unit supports asset management programs and assists with inspection plans, project engineering, fitness-for-service assessments, and ASME mechanical design. Internal organizations supported by the Welding Services Unit include Gas Operations, Hydro Generation, Fossil Generation, Nuclear Power Generation and Electric Operations.

As the Senior Welding/Mechanical Engineer, this individual will work as a company subject matter expert in welding, mechanical design, fabrication, and inspections. They'll provide welding engineering and mechanical design/analysis consulting services and support to various PG&E organizations. This role supports PG&E welding programs, day to day weld repair and assessment requests, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant welding requests, and multiple Hydro-Generation asset management programs. The individual will also support the development and implementation of new welding, fabrication, and weld inspection techniques and technologies.

The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.
