Job summary

Orion Placement assists a respected public accounting firm in Grand Rapids to recruit a senior accounting leader for an on-site role with hybrid flexibility. The position offers a defined path to equity partnership in about 2 to 3 years and a chance to lead a mix of assurance engagements and advisory work, building strong relationships with owners and executives.

You will guide audits, reviews, compilations, and related services while mentoring staff and contributing to growth and ownership

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 8 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
• Meaningful public accounting experience with audit, review, compilation, tax, and/or advisory exposure.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and professional standards.
• Ability to mentor staff and confidently advise business owners and senior leaders.
• Experience with privately held businesses and employee benefit plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit, review, compilation, and other assurance engagements from planning through completion
• Serve as a primary client relationship manager and trusted advisor to business owners and leadership teams
• Review financial statements, engagement workpapers, and reporting for quality, accuracy, and compliance
• Advise clients on financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, operations, and business planning
• Provide guidance on U.S. GAAP and professional accounting standards
• Support tax planning and client tax consultation when appropriate
• Manage multiple engagements, priorities, deadlines, and client expectations
• Coach, mentor, and develop accounting professionals
• Help transition and expand client relationships while contributing to business development
• Partner with firm leadership on succession planning, ownership transitions, acquisitions, and other strategic client needs
