Job summary

REI Co-op is seeking a location analytics professional to develop location attribution, clustering and space planning solutions that support locally relevant assortments across the retail fleet. You will use store location, customer, product and space insights to inform assortment size, seasonal audits and location-based strategies, partnering with Merchandising, Analytics and Planning teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, merchandising or related field.
  • 3–5 years of merchandising, planning, analytics, or related experience with customer/product trend analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Snowflake and Excel; clustering/location attributes experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develops processes, tools and location attribution inputs for clustering, space planning and assortment decisions across the retail fleet.
  • Builds location assortment solutions that improve local relevance and productivity using multiple inputs.
  • Defines productivity measures informing assortment size, space allocation and location-based recommendations across stores.
  • Translates trends and insights into recommendations that influence assortment breadth and space decisions.
  • Supports seasonal Category Management audits by evaluating assortment size and location attribute opportunities.
  • Measures effectiveness of location-based initiatives and communicates results to stakeholders.
  • Builds partnerships with cross-divisional teams including Merchandising, Planning, Analytics and Strategy.

This job contributes to REI’s success by developing location attribution, clustering and space planning solutions that support locally relevant, productive assortments across the existing retail fleet. The role uses sales, productivity, space, customer, product and location insights to inform assortment size recommendations, seasonal audits and location-based assortment strategies. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Responsibilities
  • Develops processes, tools and location attribution inputs that support clustering, space planning and assortment decisions across the existing retail fleet, using attributes such as store location, activity, climate, customer profile, demographics, skill level and value tier.
  • Builds location assortment solutions that improve local relevance and productivity; incorporates customer, product, sales, space and location insights while gaining alignment with key business partners.
  • Defines and applies productivity measures that inform assortment size, space allocation and location-based recommendations across stores.
  • Translates productivity trends, category performance, regional affinity, customer insights and location attributes into recommendations that influence assortment breadth, depth and space decisions.
  • Supports seasonal Category Management audits by evaluating assortment size, space and location attribute opportunities and helping prioritize recommended actions.
  • Measures the effectiveness of location-based assortment and attribution initiatives; communicates results, insights and recommendations to improve future planning decisions.
  • Builds effective partnerships with cross-divisional stakeholders, including Merchandising product and planning teams, Physical Place/Visual Merchandising, Analytics, Retail and Strategy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or relevant field of study
  • 3 to 5 years of merchandising, planning, analytics, or related experience involving customer and product trend analysis.
  • Elevated proficiency in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Excel and analytical modeling preferred; experience with clustering, location attribution, customer segmentation or space productivity analysis a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance quantitative data and qualitative business input to make sound and effective decisions
  • Recognition of patterns, trends and relationships between customer needs, products and locations
