Job summary

Toast Tab, Inc. is seeking a Strategic Finance Senior Associate in Boston to partner with the G&A teams—People, Legal, Finance, Real Estate, Recruiting, and Total Rewards—and drive FP&A across the organization.

You will build models, analyze headcount and operating costs, and support annual and long-range planning while communicating insights to executives and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or a similar analytical role.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally, communicating complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; ability to translate data into actionable insights.

The Strategic Finance team is responsible for providing data-driven insights to inform strategic, financial, and operational decision-making across the company. We’re seeking a Strategic Finance Senior Associate to support the General & Administrative (G&A) organization, partnering directly with our People, Legal, Finance, Real Estate, Recruiting, and Total Rewards teams, and to help drive corporate G&A FP&A across the company. In this high-impact role, you’ll work closely with executive business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver analytical insights, support long-term operational planning, and optimize our corporate resource allocation.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

• Serve as a day-to-day finance partner to leaders across the G&A organization, supporting investment, headcount, resource allocation, and other strategic and operational decisions.
• Build and maintain financial models across headcount, compensation, benefits, real estate, vendors, and strategic programs, translating complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
• Partner on workforce and organizational planning, including hiring, compensation, benefits, and other people-related investments, helping leaders understand both financial implications and longer-term tradeoffs.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly analysis of G&A financial performance, including variances to plan and evolving trends, ensuring key business drivers, risks, and opportunities are clearly understood.
• Support annual planning, forecasting, and long-range planning across G&A, connecting financial plans to organizational priorities, operating needs, and Toast’s broader growth strategy.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives through a combination of business partnership, financial analysis, scenario modeling, and project management.
• Proactively identify trends and opportunities across the G&A cost base, surfacing insights that improve resource allocation and influence cross-functional strategic and operational decisions.
• Build strong relationships across all levels of the organization and develop a deep understanding of Toast’s business model, operating strategy, and the G&A functions that enable the company to scale.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or a similar analytical role
• Comfortable working cross-functionally, communicating complex financial information to non-finance audiences
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills. Ability to distill complex analyses into structured outputs used by teams throughout the company to size opportunities and build business cases for pursuing new initiatives
• Effective communication and project management skills; highly organized, independent, and self-motivated, with ability to present to all levels of management
• Ability to think creatively and critically, and thrive in a dynamic and often ambiguous work environment

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
