Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist in R&D Chemistry to support small‑molecule payloads and linker discovery for antibody‑drug conjugates. The role emphasizes retrosynthetic planning, multi‑step synthesis, and hands‑on execution with collaboration across biology and therapeutic areas.
The candidate will interpret spectroscopic data, design efficient synthetic routes, and contribute to SAR decisions within a collaborative, on‑site environment in California.
Senior Associate Scientist, R&D Chemistry
We are currently seeking a synthetic organic chemist for the R&D (Research & Development) Chemistry group. In this position, you will support Regeneron’s small molecule antibody‑conjugate drug discovery capabilities, linking biologics and novel genetic medicines. You will enable in‑house laboratory‑based synthetic chemistry activities toward novel small‑molecule payloads and linkers for antibody‑drug conjugate therapeutics across oncology, metabolic disease/obesity, infectious diseases, immunology and inflammation, neuroscience, and ophthalmology. Cultural fit with Regeneron chemistry and cross‑functional teams is a priority.
The R&D Chemistry team is composed of synthetic organic, medicinal chemistry, and bioconjugation scientists who work in a highly collaborative environment with other technology, biology, and therapeutic area groups. Successful candidates will have a small‑molecule synthetic organic background and experience with retrosynthetic analysis, synthetic route design, and hands‑on execution of multistep synthetic protocols, including compound isolation and characterization. A firm understanding of modern organic synthesis strategies and techniques, and the ability to work independently while deploying an efficient approach to biologically active targets, will be essential. Ability to interpret spectroscopic data for small‑molecule structure assignment/confirmation is required. Knowledge of the latest synthetic methods used in antibody‑conjugate linker generation is a plus.
