Job summary

Jobtailor in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced regulatory compliance professional to manage inquiries from regulators and coordinate examinations within the insurance and financial services sectors. You will partner with business units, prepare timely filings, assess risks from Market Conduct findings, and help develop the corporate compliance program.

Qualifications

  • College degree as prerequisite for the role.
  • 5 years of experience with regulatory examinations in an insurance or financial services environment.
  • Life insurance and annuity knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams across levels of the organization.
  • Autonomous and self-driven, yet collaborative in a team setting.
  • Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple projects; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage regulatory inquiries of PLICO and affiliated insurers.
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies regarding insurance or securities activities.
  • Coordinate regulatory filings and ensure timely submissions with regulators.
  • Identify potential risk areas based on Market Conduct findings.
  • Engage with industry peers and regulators on emerging regulatory issues.
  • Maintain information for regulatory report updates.
  • Support compliance leadership in developing and maintaining the corporate program.

Job description

  • Effectively manage regulatory inquiries of PLICO and affiliated insurance companies
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies for information pertaining to insurance and/or securities activities and/or representatives
  • Partner with the business and divisional compliance units when required regulatory filings must be submitted to designated regulators and coordinate filings in a timely manner
  • Identify potential areas of risk based on Market Conduct findings
  • Interact with industry peers and regulators to share and gather information related to emerging regulatory issues
  • Maintain the information to be included in regulatory report updates
  • Support other compliance department leaders in the development and maintenance of the company’s corporate compliance program
Requirements
  • College degree (J.D. or paralegal degree preferred)
  • 5 years of experience with regulatory examinations in an insurance company and/or broader financial industry experience
  • Experience with life insurance and annuity products is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with diverse styles/cultures
  • Strong computer research skills and investigative skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people in all levels/areas of the organization
  • Autonomous and self-driven but able to partner with others in a team environment
