Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP, a leading international law firm, seeks a counsel-level attorney for the Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice. You will lead high-stakes energy transactions, advise on market design and FERC regulatory matters, and help shape policy and practice for a global client base.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in energy law, JD, and the ability to manage complex filings with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in energy law.
• Ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory filings from inception to completion with minimal partner supervision.
• Deep knowledge of the Federal Power Act, wholesale power markets, and power transaction structures.
• Must be admitted to practice (or eligible to waive in) to the jurisdiction of office location.

Responsibilities

• Lead Data Center Power Transactions: draft, negotiate and oversee PPA, energy service agreements, and interconnection arrangements for developers, utilities and corporate buyers.
• Market Design & RTO/ISOs: advise on complex electric market design, capacity mechanisms, and market participation.
• FERC regulatory: represent clients in proceedings and advise on compliance with market-based rate programs etc.
• Federal energy policy: counsel on energy policy, renewable integration and carbon-free procurement strategies.
• Practice development: contribute to client relationships and thought leadership in digital energy infrastructure.
• Mentorship: guide associates and ensure high-quality work and professional growth.
