Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Senior Associate for a Charlotte-based private equity firm. The role spans all phases of the investment lifecycle, from deal execution and financial analysis to due diligence and portfolio oversight, in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior investment professionals and manage multiple workstreams from day one. Ideal candidates have 3-5+ years of investment banking, PE, or related experience, strong modeling

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of combined investment banking, private equity, or relevant transaction experience.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and analytical capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with management teams and external advisors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Prior private equity experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new investment opportunities through industry research, market analysis, and detailed financial modeling.
• Lead and support due diligence processes, coordinating with third-party advisors and preparing investment committee materials.
• Develop and maintain operating models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials.
• Work directly with portfolio company management teams to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
• Monitor portfolio company performance and contribute to value creation efforts across the portfolio.
• Assist with transaction execution, including acquisitions, recapitalizations, and exit processes.
• Contribute to the firm's collaborative, hands-on culture and ongoing investment sourcing efforts.
