Job summary

Cosentini Associates, a Tetra Tech company, seeks a Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Boston team, in a hybrid role focused on high-performance building systems and sustainability.

You will lead design development, coordinate with architects and owners, and mentor junior staff while advancing net-zero initiatives. The position requires travel as needed and credentials like PE and LEED BD+C are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 8+ years of HVAC design experience for commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• PE registration is highly preferred in Massachusetts.
• LEED AP BD+C accreditation is preferred.
• Project and client relationship management experience is highly desired.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate system concepts to determine best design solution.
• Develop drawings and specifications for high-performance mechanical systems.
• Lead and coordinate with engineers and designers on daily tasks.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers.
• Interface with clients and architects to discuss design changes.
• Prepare basis-of-design documents, responses to client comments, and memos.
• Coordinate with other trades to ensure integrated mechanical systems.
• Manage design manpower budget and reflect scope revisions.
• Ensure work complies with procedures, legislation, and standards.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and safety.
