My client is a $3 trillion global pension fund currently expanding their presence in New York, NY.
This role is part of the private equity portfolio monitoring team which is responsible for the fund’s data management and data governance. The Senior Associate, Investment Data will be responsible for implementing solutions related to collecting, interpreting, and presenting key financial and operational data, data mastering and data quality on various data/investment management platforms, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of data to the private equity investment department, as well as operationalizing data governance policies and guidelines. The Senior Associate supports data requests including but not limited to, quarterly portfolio level reporting ,e.g. performance attribution, transaction activities, portfolio construction (by geo, sector, assets, GP) from external and internal sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to the and maintain high standards for data accuracy, quality, and governance.
- Provide ongoing support for data platform operations including design documentation, BAU issue triage and resolution, and other business readiness activities, including ETL processes and data quality functionalities.
- Responsible for ensuring any data exceptions and data quality issues are investigated and resolved on a timely basis
- Responsible for data collection and management
- Own the format and content of routine reporting across multiple internal and external platforms (including changes facilitated within the i-Level portfolio system)
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners and other stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of business requirements, data models, source-to-target mappings, and data quality control definitions
- Develop and configure data platform components in alignment with business needs, including supporting metadata management within the enterprise data catalogue
- Apply industry best practices for testing to perform comprehensive unit testing of developed components
- Coordination with data services teams and other downstream stakeholders including monitoring functions
- Bridge technical and business perspectives by translating complex investment data and analytics into concise, decision‑focused insights for senior stakeholders
- Work with Data Engineering team in the delivery of data solutions
Key Requirements
- BSc in Computer Science (data analysis), Applied Maths, Finance, or a numerate related field
- 4-6 years’ experience as data analyst within an asset owner / investment management organization within their data operations capability
- Proficiency in Python, APIs and SQL, data visualization
- Proficiency in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools
- Good understanding of data management functions and usage of investment data in various forms
- Capable to contribute to solving complex problems in a team setting
- Knowledge of financial data providers/source qualities. Experience navigating market data platforms for data sampling and review
- Experience with data / investment management platforms such as Finbourne – LUSID and Informatica, Bloomberg, Aladdin, S&P i-Level and Burgiss, Refinitiv and Bloomberg
- Ability to guide teams through complex financial data structures
- Proficient in using tools and methodologies to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and security, aligning with Data Governance best practices.
- Experience working in complex enterprise Data Environments
- Database administration and management experience including but not limited to Microsoft SQL technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with the agile development lifecycle, including the design and implementation of ETL components within a data platform. Ability to collaborate with development teams to review and enhance code quality, and to present technical solutions effectively to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data profiling and testing, including the use of test data and execution of unit, integration, acceptance and performance testing for data platforms.
- Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines and DevOps practices for data platform deployment and maintenance.
- Understanding of financial markets and financial instruments across multiple asset classes
- 4-6 years’ experience in investment management or asset owner with data analysis capability
