Job summary

Delta Dental is seeking an Associate General Counsel to lead strategic legal guidance across the enterprise. This in-house role collaborates with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel to advise on a wide range of matters and to support enterprise strategy with external stakeholders.

You will guide multiple teams, manage budgets including outside counsel, and help strengthen the legal talent landscape to enable business roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience providing business-appropriate legal advice to leaders.
• Licensed attorney required upon hire (varies by state).
• Experience leading, managing, and developing lawyers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Understanding of the business of insurance and related legal considerations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality legal service through cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
• Act as a business generalist, counsel leadership on critical legal matters across disciplines.
• Coach and guide junior legal leaders to deliver integrated services.
• Cultivate relationships with business stakeholders and participate in strategic planning.
• Forecast talent gaps and develop succession plans to support business roadmaps.
• Manage department budget and oversee outside counsel when needed.
