Job summary

Sentara Health in Virginia Beach, VA seeks a senior corporate counsel to advise executive leadership on governance, contracts, M&A, and regulatory risk. You will review, negotiate, and draft a wide range of agreements, and supervise litigation matters with outside counsel as needed.

You will mentor junior attorneys and help build a compliant, risk-managed organization across Sentara’s health system.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required with strong emphasis on healthcare and corporate matters.
• Proven track record handling governance, contracts, and regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to senior and executive leadership and business units on corporate governance, contracts, M&A, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
• Review, draft, and negotiate vendor, client, and commercial contracts.
• Oversee litigation or disputes and coordinate with external counsel to achieve resolution.
• Mentor and supervise less experienced legal staff.

• Overview: Provide legal counsel to senior and executive leadership and business units on a wide range of legal issues including corporate governance, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and litigation. Assess legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests. Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, client contracts, and commercial agreements. Oversee any litigation or disputes involving Sentara, working closely with external counsel to manage cases and ensure appropriate resolution. Mentor and supervise less experienced legal staff.

Education and Experience

• Juris Doctorate
• 12+ years Legal experience with specific focus on general corporate and health care matters
