Job summary

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) invites applications for an Associate Editor in the Mathematical Reviews Editorial department in Ann Arbor, MI. The role focuses on editorial decisions for the MR Database, assigning reviews, and editing content to support high-quality mathematical literature coverage. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D.

in mathematics with substantial post-Ph.D. scholarship and strong English writing skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in mathematics or closely related field.
• At least three, and preferably five, years of relevant academic experience beyond the Ph.D.
• Expertise and research in at least one active area of mathematical sciences.
• Excellent English language writing and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Select and classify material for the MR Database from diverse sources.
• Decide on level of treatment in the MR Database for each item.
• Assign items to reviewers and edit reviewer-provided content.
• Edit reviews in pre-assigned areas and advise on coverage decisions.
• Recruit reviewers and participate in monthly editor meetings.
