Job summary

Dartmouth College seeks a Senior Associate Director of Gift Planning to raise restricted and unrestricted gifts for the institution and its professional schools. The role serves as a charitable gift planning advisor to approximately 800 prospects within a major capital campaign.

The incumbent will lead solicitation efforts, collaborate with Trustees and senior volunteers, and maintain deep knowledge of tax, investment, and legal aspects of charitable giving while traveling for donor engagement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 8+ years in planned giving, law, development, or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain technical expertise in tax, investment, and legal aspects of charitable giving.
• Ability to work with faculty, senior officers, Trustees, and volunteers.
• Superlative written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent negotiation, judgement, risk assessment, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong independence and teamwork, with solid project management and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking; handle sensitive, confidential matters with discretion.
• Demonstrated integrity in professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Manages geographically assigned prospect pool for rating, cultivation, gift plan design and solicitation.
• Completes 110 prospect visits annually, often with senior officers.
• Prepares solicitation and stewardship materials for major donors and prospects.
• Solicits gifts personally and with others; evaluates results and future opportunities.
• Develops overall stewardship strategy for planned gift donors and events.
• Oversees donor information management, writes contact reports, and compiles proposals.
