Job summary

Leoforce in Newark, NJ is seeking an experienced Associate Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations, GAAP reporting, and close processes. This permanent role requires strong technical accounting skills, NetSuite experience, and the ability to collaborate with executive leadership on strategy and resource allocation.

You will oversee audits, build internal controls, mentor accounting staff, and translate financial results into clear business recommendations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Former Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or an equivalent ERP platform.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Proven leadership skills, including the ability to develop teams and partner across functions.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to connect financial performance with business strategy.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with a hands-on approach to solving problems.
• CPA designation or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and financial close.
• Deliver accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to improve visibility into performance, cash flow, and business opportunities.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and business strategy.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and support compliance.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with tax advisors and other external partners.
• Optimize NetSuite reporting, workflows, and accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Translate financial results into clear recommendations that help leaders manage risk, improve profitability, and make informed decisions.
• Recruit, coach, and develop accounting talent while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
