Job summary

Weber Shandwick in Washington, D.C. seeks a Senior Associate to join the Corporate and Public Affairs team. You’ll execute communications, reputation management, and earned media strategies for high-profile clients at the intersection of business, policy, media, and culture. Hybrid work in our DC office.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in communications/public affairs, strong writing and pitching skills, and the ability to translate complex topics into clear narratives for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations or public affairs (agency or Capitol Hill experience a strong plus).
  • A strong understanding of the media landscape, particularly within the Beltway and national media.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex policy or corporate issues into clear, compelling narratives for various audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Draft high-quality, strategic written materials, including press releases, op-eds, messaging frameworks, executive briefing documents, and social media copy.
  • Media Relations & Strategy: Proactively monitor the media landscape, build and maintain targeted media lists, draft compelling pitches, and conduct outreach to reporters across business, policy, and trade publications.
  • Research & Intelligence: Conduct in-depth research and synthesize complex data into digestible insights regarding industry trends, legislative/regulatory developments, competitor activity, and media coverage to inform client strategy.
  • Strategic Ideation: Actively participate in team brainstorms, bringing fresh, culturally resonant ideas to the table to advance client priorities.
  • Client Experience & Account Support: Support account management by coordinating team and client meetings, developing status reports, and helping to manage and track deadlines.

About the Role

Weber Shandwick is seeking a curious, creative, and collaborative Senior Associate to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role is on our Corporate and Public Affairs team, part of Weber Advisory—a unit delivering trusted, agile C-suite counsel by blending communications expertise with cultural insights to accelerate stakeholder and organizational value.
In this role, you will focus on executing communications, reputation management, and earned media strategies for high-profile corporate, advocacy, and public sector clients operating at the complex intersection of business, policy, media, and culture. You will be a vital engine for our account teams, driving projects forward from ideation to execution while developing a deep understanding of our clients’ business objectives and headwinds they navigate.
This position will be based in our Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid schedule.

Policy and Office Attendance Requirements

Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager. Our objective is to increase this requirement over time, and many of our agencies as well as Omnicom’s corporate group already require five days of in-office attendance.
