Your day at NTT DATA

The Production Control Analyst will contribute to the support of the NJ MMIS Project and upcoming new initiatives in an IBM zOS mainframe environment over multiple LPARs. This includes initializing new environments, analysis, testing, running jobs and processes, and utilizing expertise and based on the experience requirements listed below.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, plan, and manage mainframe operational activities in development, production, and test environments.
  • Analyze, develop, test, and operate file transfer workflows both internally and externally using various tools.
  • Responsible for ensuring overnight batch processing is complete so that Daily Online activities commence according to schedule. Monitor the execution of jobs and adjust production schedules for timely delivery.
  • Perform changes to schedules to ensure optimal use of mainframe resources.
  • Analyze operational issues and application abends, analyze root causes, derive solutions, and take corrective actions following documented procedures.
  • Work closely with Programmers and Business Analysts to solve issues, complete projects, and deploy new functionality.
  • Contribute to constructing forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge.
  • Interpret functional requirements, technical specifications, and application design documents to understand application interdependencies and job flows.
  • Identify areas of improvement and maintain documentation as per existing process.
  • Take part in the definition, development, enhancement and tracking of metrics and dashboard requirements to deliver results and provide insight and recommendations on trends.
  • Support the design and maintenance of business intelligence reports and analytics.
  • Following standard operating procedures, extract and analyze data, statistics, and information from various sources and interpret and produce the relevant reports, summaries, and briefing notes that will be used to inform business decisions.
  • Work with a variety of internal stakeholders to translate needs into data reports, data insights, and extracts.
  • Assist with maintaining processes for ensuring data accuracy and current relevance and representation.
  • Assist with the identification of process improvements.
  • Under guidance, review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes, and recommendations related to proposed solutions.

  • Must have effective people skills, professional level of diction and grammar, ability to organize own work schedule, manage complex projects, and ensure that assigned tasks are complete by specified deadlines.
  • Ability to show initiative in ambiguous circumstances and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as needed, and as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate relevant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities.
  • Has analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently from home while collaborating across multiple teams and building sound working relationships.
  • Passionate about achieving results and statistics.
  • Developing technical expertise and knowledge of statistical concepts.
  • Ability to identify trends, business opportunities, etc.
  • Experience using business tools, including Teams, SharePoint, Office, etc.
  • Some programming skills with querying languages, SQL, SAS, etc.
  • Good understanding of statistical analysis and reporting packages.
  • Understanding of current data protection and privacy laws.
  • Experience with Medicaid/Medicare systems processing, including Claims, Provider, and Member Eligibility. Managed Care, and Prescription Benefits a plus.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or another quantitative field is preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Mainframe production control activity experience including job scheduling using Control-M for z/OS and project code promotions using ISPW.
  • Strong experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, VSAM, CICS, COBOL, and SYNCSORT.
  • Moderate level experience working in an analytics capacity.
  • Moderate level experience working with data collection tools and software.
