Job Title: IT Analyst Staff Spec, BI Developer

The IT Analyst Staff Spec, BI Developer is responsible for leveraging enterprise data to design, create, and maintain analyses, BI reports, and tools supporting clinical, business, and research operations at UVA Health. The role involves performing data analysis using appropriate methodologies and providing consultative analytics support to executives and leadership, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position also offers technical guidance to fellow BI developers, contributing significantly to the BI team's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in cross-functional performance improvement teams, ensuring data accuracy and availability.
  2. Consult with users across all levels to solve problems and contribute to organizational projects through data analysis and presentation.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders, serving as the lead developer for outcomes-related metrics, ensuring accurate metadata, report development, and data validation.
  4. Gather business requirements, design, code, validate, deploy, and maintain semantic layers and metadata for complex reports and tools.
  5. Develop SQL code, analyze data, and design data collection tools. Perform system administration tasks including upgrades and patches.
  6. Support team and departmental performance improvement activities, adhering to quality standards and best practices.
  7. Monitor and prioritize work requests, lead team meetings, and participate in governance and change control activities.
  8. Stay updated on emerging technologies, evaluate their benefits, and recommend enhancements. Provide training and review colleagues' work to optimize performance.
  9. Coach users on BI tools and adapt to organizational demands and shifting priorities.
  10. Remote work is permitted.
Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Management, Logistics, or related fields, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 5 years, or a Ph.D. with 3 years. Expertise in relational and multi-dimensional databases, schema design, indexing, referential integrity, and T-SQL is required. Proficiency with large datasets, Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to learn new software are essential. Remote work is permitted.

Physical Demands

This role is primarily sedentary, involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel for meetings and programs may be required.
