Job summary

Rocky Mountain Institute seeks a Senior Associate on the Buildings team to advance decarbonization through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic research across the United States, with initial focus on California and the Northeast.

You will translate complex building energy data into actionable policy and market recommendations, synthesize findings for reports and presentations, and collaborate with external partners to drive real-world impact in the zero-carbon building

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant professional experience in built environment fields (building energy systems, building science, architecture, engineering, or similar).
• Strong research, modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills with large data sets.
• Ability to translate raw data and complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

• Locate, manage, and analyze data to illuminate problems and solutions.
• Present quantitative information in clear, concise visuals.
• Synthesize insights into presentations, reports, and blogs.
• Engage with external experts via interviews, conferences, and collaborations.
• Design and create quantitative models addressing key questions.
• Coach staff on areas of expertise (e.g., building energy modeling).
• Structure and manage work for junior team members.
• Provide topical expertise for conferences, workshops, and media.
