Job summary

FootBridge is seeking a Senior Associate (Registered Architect or Professional Engineer) to lead forensic building analysis and enclosure systems consulting. You will conduct field investigations, review documents, and develop condition reports for high-value assets across the Southeast, with significant client-facing responsibilities.

The role requires deep expertise in enclosure systems, ASTM E2018 PECs, and capital planning, with a route to technical leadership and advisory work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead field investigations focused on building envelope systems (roofing, façades, waterproofing, windows, and structural interfaces)
• Conduct forensic assessments of building failures, distress conditions, and performance issues
• Evaluate HVAC, structural, and site systems as they relate to enclosure performance and building condition
• Perform Property Condition Assessments (ASTM E2018) and forensic evaluations
• Review construction documents, maintenance records, and prior investigation reports
• Develop clear, decision-ready Property Condition Reports with risk analysis, repair scope, and capital planning recommendations
• Collaborate with internal technical experts and support client engagement discussions
• Travel regionally to active building sites and property locations (~30-50%)

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering

15+ years of experience in building envelope consulting/forensic architecture

Hands-on experience with enclosure systems investigations

Strong background in Property Condition Assessments/forensic work or due diligence

ADA/FHA, capital planning, or lender/investor due diligence experience (plus)

Our client is a national building consulting practice specializing in forensic investigations and building envelope performance for institutional owners, investors, and lenders. Our work supports high-value commercial real estate decisions by identifying building defects, assessing risk, and evaluating long-term system performance across complex assets.

They are seeking a Senior Associate (Registered Architect or Professional Engineer) with deep experience in forensic building analysis and enclosure systems who is ready to step further into consulting, technical leadership, and client-facing advisory work.

What You'll Do

• Lead field investigations focused on building envelope systems (roofing, façades, waterproofing, windows, and structural interfaces)
• Conduct forensic assessments of building failures, distress conditions, and performance issues
• Evaluate HVAC, structural, and site systems as they relate to enclosure performance and building condition
• Perform Property Condition Assessments (ASTM E2018) and forensic evaluations
• Review construction documents, maintenance records, and prior investigation reports
• Develop clear, decision-ready Property Condition Reports with risk analysis, repair scope, and capital planning recommendations

What You Bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering
• Active architectural registration (NCARB or equivalent; PE also considered)
• 15+ years of experience with a strong focus on building envelope consulting, forensic architecture, or construction defect analysis
• Hands-on experience with enclosure systems investigations (roofing, façades, waterproofing, air/water intrusion, etc.)
• Strong background in Property Condition Assessments, forensic work, or technical due diligence
• Deep understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and building science principles
• Experience with ADA/FHA, capital planning, or lender/investor due diligence is a plus
