Qualifications

Position Overview

This role combines project management, technical consulting, forensic investigation, and repair design, with a focus on building envelope systems. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects, coordinate with clients and internal teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

This position requires regular field work, including rooftop access, ladder and scaffold climbing, work at heights, and travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including client communication, scheduling, budgeting, and technical execution.
  • Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, and documentation of existing building systems.
  • Evaluate and diagnose building envelope failures and performance issues.
  • Perform water intrusion investigations and leakage testing of roofs, windows, curtain walls, waterproofing systems, and related building components.
  • Design and develop repair solutions for existing building systems, including:
    • Exterior wall assemblies and cladding systems
    • Roofing systems
    • Window and curtain wall systems
    • Waterproofing and below-grade systems
    • Plaza deck waterproofing systems
  • Provide technical support during construction and assist contractors, architects, and owners with project implementation.
  • Perform material and component sampling of building envelope systems.
  • Review plans, specifications, and technical reports for quality assurance.
  • Support dispute resolution, claims, and litigation-related projects through technical analysis and documentation.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Participate in professional organizations, committees, and industry initiatives to maintain technical expertise and industry involvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, architecture, consulting, building enclosure/building envelope, or construction-related work.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with technical documentation, reporting, and design software.
Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Building enclosure/building envelope consulting
  • Curtain wall and facade systems
  • Historic preservation and restoration
  • Roofing and waterproofing systems
  • Forensic engineering or failure investigations
  • Industrial rope access or work-at-height experience
  • Public speaking, presentations, or technical training
Physical Requirements & Travel
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to perform field investigations in a variety of weather and site conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required, including locations not accessible by public transportation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurable driving status may be required.
