Job summary

Southern Methodist University seeks an Associate AD for Development (Director of Strategic Development) to lead the Athletics major and principal gift fundraising, on campus in Dallas. You will oversee the Athletics major giving team and partner with DEA leadership to maximize philanthropic support for Athletics priorities.

The role requires seven years in major gifts, strategic fundraising experience, and strong communication skills. Bachelor's degree is required; Master's preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s preferred.
• Seven years of progressively responsible major gift fundraising experience required.
• Experience developing fundraising strategies and managing major gift portfolios.
• Supervising professional staff and collaborating across development teams is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
• Develop and execute individualized fundraising strategies to meet annual goals.
• Supervise the Athletics major giving team and guide frontline fundraisers.
• Coordinate fundraising strategies with regional development officers, school/unit teams, and Parent Giving.
• Serve as the primary Athletics Development liaison to the Athletics Development Board of Directors.
• Represent Athletics Development at events and alumni activities; maintain prospect data integrity.
