Job summary

Edward Mann seeks a Senior Associate to join its New York insurance litigation and coverage practice. Qualifications

Senior Associate – Insurance Litigation & Coverage

The Opportunity

An established international law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Associate to join its growing New York insurance practice. This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-value insurance coverage disputes within an internationally connected team, advising major insurers on complex and commercially significant matters.

Working closely with experienced Partners and colleagues across the US, UK and Asia, you will play an important role in developing the New York practice, managing key client relationships and contributing to the team's continued growth.

The Role

You will handle a broad range of complex insurance coverage and litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on Directors & Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions and other financial lines risks.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising insurers on complex coverage issues, policy interpretation, reservation of rights and declination positions.
• Managing coverage disputes from initial strategy through litigation, arbitration, discovery, motions and settlement.
• Developing claims strategies and advising on exposure management in collaboration with claims professionals, underwriters and brokers.
• Handling matters involving professional liability, cyber risks, transactional liability and financial institutions coverage.
• Supporting clients on specialist risks, including representations and warranties, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability and lawyers' and accountants' professional liability.
• Managing matters effectively, maintaining clear reporting and ensuring strong commercial and procedural oversight.
• Building client relationships and contributing to business development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Admission to the New York Bar.
• Approximately 6+ years' relevant experience in insurance coverage, insurance litigation or a closely related practice.
• Strong experience advising on complex coverage disputes and developing litigation strategies.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and advocacy skills, combined with a commercially focused approach.
• The ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively with Partners, clients and colleagues.
• A proactive approach to client development, mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the growth of a practice.
• Experience in D&O, financial institutions, cyber, transactional risk or other professional liability lines will be particularly valuable.
