Job summary

The Country Club of Darien in Darien, CT seeks a Lead Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead daily maintenance and agronomic programs on a premier 18-hole course along the Long Island Sound.

Reporting to the Grounds Superintendent, the successful candidate will manage a 24-person team seasonally, supervise irrigation and turfgrass management, mentor staff, and contribute to capital projects and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• 2- or 4-year degree in turfgrass management or related field.
• 5+ years of golf course maintenance experience.
• Ability to obtain a Connecticut pesticide license within 30 days.
• Available to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in golf course operations including course set‑up, rolling, and aerification.
• Assist with annual budgeting and payroll.
• Assist with irrigation scheduling and water management.
• Crew management and training.
• Coordinate with other departments and contribute to capital projects.
