Tom Green County in Texas seeks an experienced attorney to prepare and prosecute cases in court and perform related legal functions. The Attorney III level may be filled at the Attorney III level or underfilled as an Attorney II until promotion to Attorney III.

Core duties include intake, investigations, arraignments, pleas, civil and criminal litigation, and advising law enforcement. A Juris Doctor and Texas license are required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
• At least one year of attorney experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Performs new case intake and screening, including indictment type and evidence gathering.
• Prepares for arraignments, pretrial hearings, and jury selection.
• Negotiates pleas with defense attorneys and counsels defendants.
• Prepares and litigates civil and criminal cases and may appear in non-trial court.
• Advises law enforcement and county officials on legal issues.
