Under general direction, prepares and prosecutes cases in court and performs related legal functions.
Positions in this classification are to be filled by experienced attorneys who can independently handle a variety of cases and legal matters. A vacant Attorney III position may be filled at the Attorney III level by a fully qualified person, or "underfilled" as an Attorney II until the incumbent acquires the necessary experience, knowledge, abilities, and skills required for promotion to the Attorney III level.
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and precedents; knowledge of legal procedures and the methods and practices of pleading cases.
Ability to understand and interpret statutes, constitutional provisions, and administrative regulations; ability to effectively prepare and litigate cases in court; ability to work effectively with members of the legal profession, law enforcement personnel, co-workers and county department representatives, and the public.
Skill in oral/written communication and interpersonal relations.
Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned environment; prolonged periods of sitting and periodic walking, standing, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting up to 15lbs; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required.
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited school of law and at least one year of experience as an attorney.
License to practice law in the State of Texas.
