Graham Windham in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an experienced Assistant Comptroller to oversee accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting, and compliance for the agency. The role ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial operations while maintaining strong internal controls.

Reporting to the AVP Finance, you will lead a small team, manage the close process, support audits and grant reporting, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency within a hybrid work setting (2-3 days in office).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit or government environment.
• Experience supervising staff is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, grants management, and audit preparation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting, general ledger, and compliance to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and respond to inquiries.
• Lead monthly and annual close processes and prepare journal entries.
