Job summary

First Bank is seeking a seasoned Special Assets Officer to oversee collection processes and recovery strategies across the full life cycle of credit deterioration. You will coordinate with lenders, legal counsel, and management to minimize losses and ensure compliance with laws and bank policies.

The role includes bankruptcy administration, OREO property management, and collaboration on complex workouts for commercial, consumer, and real estate loans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking, Economics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible banking experience in collections, loss mitigation, special assets, or related functions.
• Demonstrated experience managing delinquent, non-accrual, and charged-off loans.
• Experience with collection management for commercial, consumer, agricultural, and real estate loans.
• Experience working with legal counsel during litigation and bankruptcy proceedings, debt recovery, foreclosure actions, and collateral liquidation.

Responsibilities

• Direct collection efforts on delinquent loans and formal demand processes.
• Collaborate with lenders and credit administration to identify workout strategies.
• Coordinate legal collection efforts, foreclosures, repossessions, and collateral liquidation.
• Monitor delinquency reports; recommend loans for charge-off and pursue recovery opportunities.
• Administer loans in bankruptcy proceedings and coordinate with legal counsel and trustees.
• Manage OREO properties from acquisition through disposition, including maintenance and disposition efforts.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies; prepare reports for management and audits.
